Oriented on page such that the four star tails extend to the SW, with “Earendil” inscribed in pencil to the right, with the same orientation. However, there is an arrow pointing NE, and another “Earendil (2)” inscription with that orientation; if that’s done, then the tails of the stars travel straight down, as if the stars are rising, rather than falling.

MS. Tolkien Drawings 91, fol. 6r, confirms orientation; also, that each side is (or should be) 51mm — though this figure was crossed out and not emended. Faint compassed circle guide surrounds it, several mm outside of furthest extremities

Later titled “Fangorn Forest,” an early name for Taur-nu-Fuin (Dorthonion), not to be confused with Treebeard’s Fangorn. The image was later the inspiration for “Mirkwood.”
