Inscribed in pencil to right, “Fingolfin & / his house”. MS. Tolkien Drawings 91, fol. 4r, shows that all reproductions of this device before 2018 are rotated 90º counterclockwise to what was intended; also, that each side is (or should be) 51mm — though this figure was crossed out and not emended.

Oriented on page such that the four star tails extend to the SW, with “Earendil” inscribed in pencil to the right, with the same orientation. However, there is an arrow pointing NE, and another “Earendil (2)” inscription with that orientation; if that’s done, then the tails of the stars travel straight down, as if the stars are rising, rather than falling.

Inscribed to the lower right in pencil, “Melian”, with the orientation shown in Pictures and A&I.

Geographic tags, division by real-world chronology (as partially evidenced by physical sheets), and subdivision by coordinates, all forthcoming.

North and south (not east and west!) are flipped on the compass rose: arrows point in direction of travel, which was indeed west to east.
